These are a few thoughts on Ugo Monye’s new collection.
Four days make one fashion week and Ugo Monye’s collection walked down the fashion week stage on Friday, October 29, 2021.
Ugo Monye is a popular Nigerian designer who focuses mostly on Men’s wear.
In this his new spring-summer collection, he sticks to his usual MO, traditional men’s wear.
Interestingly, he dabbled a little into women’s wear. Two outfits from the collection were made for women.
His models strutted the runway with phones by their ears as if to say that the outfits were for the modern businessman. The collection was also mixed with casual wears.
Velvet fabrics were the staple fabric of this collection. He also used aso-oke.
Monye’s usedof a lot of fabric in this collection, and plenty of fabric means the outfits had a lot of motion and movement.
He also drew inspiration from a sort of military-style, first-century Roman empire robes.
Ultimately, the collection gave us classic Ugo Monye designs and we can’t fault a classic.
