The coalition of the National Consultative Front, the New Fabian Society of the Concerned Professionals and others have inaugurated an application that will be used by citizens to hold political office holders accountable.
The political bodies also unveiled an online platform that will be used by citizens in different neighbourhoods to vote for leaders and debate on various issues affecting them.
The Co-Chairperson of the NC Front, Prof. Pat Utomi, said this on Friday during a press conference held in Victoria Island.
He said, “As concerned citizens, we in this coalition of bodies such as the National Consultative Front, the New Fabian Society of the Concerned Professionals and others are launching two initiatives as part of a direct democracy package to permanently alter the face of Nigerian politics for good.

“The first initiative depends on the use of technology to hold public office holders accountable to the people. Using an application that draws on registered voters list of Independent National Electoral Commission, constituents will be asked to evaluate the performance of the elected representatives on subjects like job creation, security education, and healthcare.
“The second platform is the citizen policy choice progress. The App allows us to group citizens by neighbourhood whether traditional neighbourhood, or ‘the good Samaritan neighbourhood’ spread geographically, but drawn into relationship by an issue of professional bond issues which will be introduced for debate, discussion, and voting. This will produce a group of five of the most favourable considered positions.”

Utomi added that the coalition also planned to embark on a mass malaria vaccination for citizens.

He said, “We have committed now to a mass malaria vaccination programme for a government that is elected from an alternative platform.
“In addition to this stop malaria initiative, our health policy thrust will make top priority the availability of at least 12 machines in the first year of the government life. “Similar initiatives on job creation, green economy, and renewable energy will be announced.”
