The Atiku Support Organisation has hailed a former Vice-President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, as the most detribalised political leader in the country as he turns 75 today.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Dr El Mo Victor, the former VP was described as a successful private business magnate and a self-made entrepreneur who has transformed Nigeria’s economic space and has privately created over 60,000 jobs for Nigerians.
Also referred to as a friend of the youth, Victor noted that Atiku has a record of bringing young, unknown professionals in their 30s and early 40s into service.
He claimed that many of the professional young leaders have today become governors in their states while some have become a shining light on the global stage; citing examples like the DG WTO, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, President AFDB, Professor Akinwunmi Adesina, Oby Ezekwesili, among others.

The statement read in part, “We celebrate a friend of the youth, who has a proven record of bringing young, unknown professionals in their 30s and early 40s into service. Many of the professional young leaders have today become governors in their states while some have become a shining light on the global stage, like the DG WTO, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, President AFDB, Professor Akinwunmi Adesina, Oby Ezekwesili, among others.
“We honour on this day, a great leader who has revolutionized the telecommunications/ICT sector, which has today, created over five million direct and indirect jobs, attracted investment of over $70 billion and accounts for >11% of GDP. A leader who balloons a comatose economy from 0.584% in 1999 to an incredible and record-breaking peak of 15.329%.
“We celebrate a genius who reformed and liberalized the banking sector that turned a trillion Naira sector in 2004/2005 to over forty trillion Naira in 2020, thus creating millions of direct and indirect jobs for the youth of this country. You are indeed the best leader any nation could ask or hope for.”

Victor further described the former Vice-President of Nigeria as a role model that youths are seeking to emulate.
He said, “You are an outstanding role model for us, the youths who are seeking to emulate your selfless and impactful lifestyle, thoughtful leadership, and inspirational work ethic. In every direction, your excellency, you have proven yourself to be a leader of high standards, morality, decency, integrity, and character. We are proud of you, Sir, for the lives you have touched and your immense contribution to our democracy.
“In this difficult time of anxiety and national distress, the Nigerian youths need you and crave your leadership in 2023 to usher in the much-needed unity, the security of lives and property, and economic prosperity for all.”
