Free Cool Hang Out Spots In Lagos, Nigeria – Guardian Nigeria

The holiday season is around the corner, and outdoor activities are about to hit the roof. Netflix and Chills might not be an ideal option for hangouts all the time, especially during the holidays. Yet, it is without a doubt that outdoor activities in Lagos can put a hole in your pocket; you end up spending more than you planned for. After all, “Sapa” mode is no joke!
There are hang out spots you can visit and enjoy outdoor activities at no extra cost in Lagos. Some of these places include; 

JJT Park ( Johnson Jakande Tinubu park)
JJT Park is a recreational park opened 7 days a week from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. The space features huge sculptures, huts, and a sand fill playground with swings for kids. It is located by the House of Assembly, near the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja. 
The entry fee is free. However, you may be required to pay a fee if your gathering has over ten people. You can always negotiate the fee with the operation officers, their fee policy is quite flexible. 
The park allows external refreshments, including food, drinks, a music player, and any item you wish to bring in, except illegal ones.   
The environment is spacious, beautiful and also picturesque. The grounds are covered in low-cut grass and interlocking tiles. So, carrying along a bedspread or mat to sit on would do you good. 
Also, you wouldn’t have to worry about having a low bar if you intend to go with your speakers or laptop for films and music because there are charging ports around for your devices to stay on. It is a place perfect for family, friends, and lovers to hang out. 

Nike Art Gallery
Nike art gallery is the biggest nest of creative works in West Africa. Located at No 2 Oba Yekini Elegushi road, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. The four-storey building contains an art and textile gallery featuring over 7,000 different creative pieces. To experience the beauty the art gallery offers, is free of charge. The centre is filled with diverse collections of colourful paintings and artworks by a long list of artists celebrating Nigerian talent and her culture. 
The environment is serene and filled with a burst of colours, picture-perfect for photos and vlogs. As a result of the African and historical stories the place tells, you are likely to find people from diverse cultures around the world. 
The chances of getting bored and being less occupied at the Nike art gallery is slim. Going through all that the gallery offers can take up to a full day. Fortunately, the gallery is open 7 days a week, 10:00 am – 5:00 p.m so you can always come back for more sightseeing.
If you love sightseeing, the Nike art gallery is the spot. It is a place perfect for everyone including children. It can serve as a date, friends and family hang out spot.

Landmark centre
Landmark centre is one spot in Lagos that consists of multiple spots you can visit. It is situated at No 4, Water corporation, Victoria Island, Lagos. The environment is spacious, and features different fun spots, including restaurants, fashion stores, cinema, game centres and a beach spot.
The Landmark centre is open and free to the public all day, every day from morning to night time. However, to visit the hang out spots within, including the beach, money has to be spent to enjoy their facilities.
Nonetheless, one can enjoy the scenery of the centre and take a walk through the shops, visit the bookstore and mini-gallery free of charge. There are sitting areas all around, so you wouldn’t have to worry about your legs getting weak. It is a chilled hangout spot for everyone.

Freedom Park 
Freedom Park is a recreational park located downtown at Broad Street, Lagos Island. The Broad street prison turned recreational centre is free to anyone who wishes to explore its insides. 
The park was built to preserve the history and heritage of the Nigerian people. The place is adorned with numerous historical and cultural sepulchres as well as the museum domain, which is home to Nigerian historical and colonial artefacts.  
Within its walls is an open-air stage that is open to hosting events including Felaberation, open mic events, poetry reading events and many more. This Lagos spot is one of the coolest suitable for everyone.
