The CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), officially French: Coupe d’Afrique des Nations (CAN), also referred to as Total Africa Cup of Nations is the main international men’s association football competition in Africa. Host country for this year’s tournament is Cameroon.The 2022 tournament began on 9th January – 6 February 2022. It comprises of 24 teams and has 6 venues (in 5 host cities).
Five cities across Cameroon are hosting matches during the 2022 AFCON. The capital city of Yaoundé hosted the opening ceremony and will host the final. Also hosting matches will be Douala, the largest city in the country with a population of 2.77 million, as well as Bafoussam, Limbe and Garoua.

On Sunday, 9th January, 2022, which happened to be the beginning of the tournament, Cameroon defeated Burkina Faso to win the opening game of the tournament which took place at Olembe staduim Yaounde.It was 2-1.
