UPDATE: Abuja – Kaduna Train Attack

There was an attack on train boarding passengers along Abuja-Kaduna rail track on Monday 28th March, 2022 around 7: 45 pm at Dutse village in Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna, just a few kilometres from the Rigasa train station, which is the last transit point of the train.

The terrorists were said to have opened fire, shooting sporadically on the train, and later gained access to the train.

The terrorists had blown the rail track with an explosive at about 7.45 pm at Dutse village, forcing the train with 362 passengers to derail.

Among those confirmed dead were the secretary-general of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, Musa-Lawal Ozigi, Kwara State chairman of the union, Akin Akinsola and Dr Chinelo Megafu Nwando.

Also shot, injured and currently receiving treatment as a result of the attack are former deputy governor of Zamfara State, Ibrahim Wakkala, Katsina State Health Commissioner, Mariatu Bala Usman, and one of the wives of the slain TUC scribe.

At the time of writing this News, the Kaduna state government confirmed the number of those who died in the attack to be 8.

President Buhari has ordered that facilities be prepared to Monitor Abuja- Kaduna rail line and other rail lines in the country.
